Its been a long time since I have posted anything here. Dorothy and I just finished a 12 day trip to Kauai. We had a great time. Stayed at my friend Jim's condo at The Cliffs in Princeville. Those of you that know Jim (Kauaicondo.comcast.net) I highly recommend that you contact him and take advantage of this great condo. It is in a wonderful place with great access to everything a Hawaii trip should be. Probably the best nights sleep away from home that I have ever had. The condo is very much like Edwards in Capitola so for us was very comfortable.
We visited the Waimea Canyon State Park the drive there is spectacular and when you get there the hiking is incredible for views, waterfalls, and the terrain (all up and down hills, no level).
Wiapo Falls, on the Canyon Trail in Waimea canyon
We spend on afternoon Kayaking the Hanalai river very peaceful and very little current just enough to give a decent workout going up to the lowest point in the river then floating back with almost no work.
The river at the start of Hanalei town, Dorothy and I really like this place. Can see us returning to this place many times over the next 20 years. Small town with great beach, good food, and very very small. Road ends 8 miles from Hanalei so traffic is minimal.
We did an afternoon ride on the Princeville Ranch. The trip was 1 hours by horse to a waterfall (most trips in Kauai end in a waterfall). Not real strenuous and the horses were very well behaved. All in all we had a fantastic time in Kauai and look forward to going back. Our last trip to Kauai was 35 years ago for our honeymoon sure hope it does not take that long to get back.
